TBH I'd probably recommend the New 3DS or New 3DS XL if you're serious about handheld gaming, but if you just want to play a few specific 3DS games rather than fully buying into handheld gaming, this is a great price.
It's actually even cheaper at £49.00!
Presumably, though you might get limited functionality depending on if you're using it as a dedicated HTPC (i.e. you might find word processing etc more inconvenient when you're sitting on a sofa on the other side of the room!).
"Oh, and we'll totally see some HL3 trolling in some capacity."
Don't you mean Ricochet 2? :D
Seriously, though, your point about the afforable Steam machine is well-made, but the price is an issue if Valve really want to get into the lounge. PC gaming lets you save a huge amount over the course of your rig's lifespan, once you've absorbed the initial build costs, but for many gamers just spending ~£300 on a console is too conve...
That's not true, actually. For years games writers/journos/hacks were criticised for being too soft and too willing to overhype games without proper critique, coming to a head with the Aliens Colonial Marines scandal.
We now have a gaming press that's willing to be more critical and call it how they see it - good or bad. Fanboys hate it, but I'd argue that's a good thing - it's all about finding a writer who shares your tastes and following their stuff.
No, do let it hurt the sequel. Come back to handhelds, R@D, where we know you can make great games. The Vita needs your expertise!
Why would this game need to be stress tested? It's just small-scale multiplayer, isn't it?
Still, never mind - it's nice to see them doing it anyway after the Halo MCC debacle.
Ah: "UPDATE: Sadly, Microsoft have now taken Evolve off the table - it appears to have been a mistake on their end and part of a different promotion. Thankfully plenty of people were at least able to take advantage of the error before they rectified their mistake!"
Those disagrees are fair enough, bring them on. At least I was able to get in there.
@JJShredder: No worries, always glad to muck in and give my 2c (even when it isn't wanted :P )
"I heard it was kinda MMOish. I don't think I care about that part and am more concerned about the single player. Would I be missing out?"
Progression is a little like Monster Hunter crossed with an MMO. There's a SP story mode, but then you can play the parallel quests offline with bots or online with player allies. You can play a whole bunch ...
Wait, how are you disagreeing? It works - I'm looking at the order page! It appears in your basket.
Great to see a new take on the MMO genre on the horizon! Really think the scene needs shaking up - WOW is a game, not a genre or just a template to clone!
@jackwood9998: To be really pedantic, it could be Red Dead Redemption 2 if the story is a direct sequel to the events of RDR... but I agree with you completely! :D
Haha, well I suppose we have heard it all before! If they don't hit this one, don't bother.
Pretty sure you do get Evolve -
"Add Evolve for Free
Now when you add an Xbox One Console to your cart, you can add Evolve for Xbox One for free, saving £49.99."
From the store page.
@poor_cus_of_games: Haha, "laster race" in my case! :D
Annoying, but again, I already bought GTA V on consoles when it first came out. Don't really want to buy the game *again* on PS4 as opposed to paying less for a future-proofed PC version. The graphics mods are always amazing.
Pretty much the best entry point possible IMO. You'll relive all the classic story moments, but as your own character. Gameplay is top-notch too:
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse captures the brutal thrill of soaring aerial anime battles better than practically any game I've ever played"
Never mind, you'll have the definitive PC version! ;) Worth the wait IMO.
Plus, console players might end up beta testing it.
Look, I bought GTA V on 360 and loved it at launch, and I love my consoles. But I've waited this long and happy to last longer for a mod-friendly PC version.
Oh god yes. And a Telltale Games Cowboy Bebop adventure.
And Gurren Laggan. Anyone? Come on: tragic storyline, awesome mechs, that's videogame material for sure.
Actually the series had had some great games, developed by Dimps back in the day, but this style of game is a real step forward. Usually we just have to play as the characters and go through the motions, but this lets us actually get involved as ourselves!
Ooh, nice idea. Here's hoping they didn't lie about the specs this time though! :P
Joking, I think that makes a lot of sense.
